In Times Like These

In Times like these

Ruth Caye Jones

Ruth Caye Jones was the mother of five and wife of a pastor. In 1943 she was reading 2 Timothy where it reads that “perilous times shall come”.  As she read the paper she understood the discouragement facing the people due to the casualties of the Allied troops during WW11 and the prospect of facing even more rationing.

Instead of letting the discouragement get her down she took a notepad out of her apron pocket and stated writing words of a melody that came to her. It was not long until people around the world were singing the hymn. She did not take credit for the words but said that God gave them to her and she gave them to the world.

The world is still in chaos and turmoil and the only hope we have is to, “Be very sure your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock”!!!!!

In times like these you need a Savior,

 In times like these you need an anchor;

 Be very sure, be very sure,

 Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, Yes He's the One,

 This Rock is Jesus, the only One;

 Be very sure, be very sure,

 Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these you need the Bible,

 In times like these, O be not idle;

 Be very sure, be very sure,

 Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

In times like these I have a Savior,

 In times like these I have an anchor;

 I'm very sure, I'm very sure

My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
